Ambulatory Medicine Pathway
Currently, around 80% of family physicians practice outpatient continuity of care. The majority are in group practices that are either health system owned or independently owned. Another 10% of family doctors are working in other outpatient settings such as urgent care and walk in clinics, aesthetic and weight loss clinics, community health centers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home health organizations. This pathway is designed to provide residents with a training experience that includes a variety of ambulatory experiences.
In addition to the core family medicine curriculum, residents in this pathway will have 4 months of electives to choose from a variety of ambulatory rotations.
Potential rotation sites include:
- Outpatient private practice
- Federally Qualified Health Care Center
