Pediatric Pathway

According to the 2018 American Academy of Family Physicians Demographic Data Collection Survey, 74% of family physicians care for infants and children in their practice. This number reflects a decline in the number of family physicians seeing pediatric patients. The care of children by family physicians is more prevalent in rural areas and underserved communities with fewer pediatricians. Family physicians have a unique opportunity to treat all members of the family and to appreciate the influence that family members and siblings have on an individual infant or child. This pediatric pathway has been designed for residents seeking more experience taking care of infants and children so that they can better provide full spectrum primary care to the families in their practice.
