Jennifer Goodfred

Program Director
Dr. Goodfred has lived in Memphis off and on for most of her life. The summer before starting high school she went on her first "medical mission trip" to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This experience was so exciting, inspiring, and motivating, that it truly set the course for her life. She continued these summer time adventures throughout high school, learning to speak a good bit of Spanish along the way. Dr. Goodfred moved to Nashville for college, traveled a bit more, got married, and then went on to the mountains of Appalachia to her first and only choice for medical school. The school's motto at the time was, "Changing our world...one graduate at a time." How could she resist? Family medicine seemed the logical next step in her journey, and she once again applied and was accepted to her single choice for residency training, back home in Memphis, TN. Since completion of residency, Dr. Goodfred has participated in numerous short term global health brigades. She has also learned that there is plenty of work to do here at home, that everyone deserves an excellent primary care physician, and that teaching the next generation of physicians is so important, and so rewarding!
